This time another aspect of the Zeeland Folklore. Those ancient, already reconstructed, wooden fishing boats were sailing to Arnemuiden, Zeeland, the Netherlands, on the occasion of the official re-opening of an ancient shipyard there and were given a hearty welcome by two Arnemuiden women in traditional clothes. The shipyard is used now to reconstruct more ancient wooden fishing boats. Can't help it that the sky was hazy this day. PS: only a few women in Zeeland are still wearing traditional clothes on a daily basis. The women at this picture are wearing these traditional clothes only by special events.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is. Albert Camus ........ My Gallery

I had to take this one and save it. I love traditions..all the traditions, but there must be a touch of the Dutch in me somewhere because this stirs my heart...lovely job, Cornelius. :)

This is lovely history and the misty sky adds to it. Thanks to John for supplying the link to your other photo which is beautiful as well. ~Mary~

Great insight into the old culture and how nice it looks on the image, I understand them, that they do not want to wear anything like that in real life.

Reenactments of our history requires guys in heavy, dark wool uniforms, carrying old rifles and marching 8-10 abreast. This capture of your history looks so good that it appears you've gone back in time and carefully hidden your camera under your cloak!
