This image is a tribute to the real hero Frans Naerebout (1748 -1818) as he died 190 years ago. At this image his statue can be seen at the sea-front in Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands. Frans Naerebout was not only a pilot but a rescuer of people from ships in danger as well (saved, with the risk of losing his own life, the life of a lot of seamen and ship passengers, even in heavy storms). Naerebout was an excellent seaman, had a great courage and no fear at all. In Holland nowadays still the saying 'Onverschrokken Naerebout' (Undaunted Naerebout) can be heard. It's only said with respect to a person with an undaunted character as well. Hope you'll enjoy this image and thanks in advance for any comment. PS: I've chosen for this angle to give the viewer the idea that the a part of the Flushing sea-front is the bow of a ship and I've chosen to capture this image at dusk as Frans Naerebout did mostly his brave work in dark and heavy weather conditions but saw always 'light at the end of the tunnel'.
