I think it looks like "Viper's Bugloss" (Echium vulgare). It growns in profusion in my area, and Vipers Bugloss honey is wonderful :)Click Here to see if you think it is this plant :)

haven't the foggiest as to what this is. but, i love the overall display of the flower on the page. the above comment about texture says it all, but i'd add color to that.
