Cornelius, I see that this bird is comfortable with your visit. I think I know too that it's difficult to capture this Herons.. I never captured one. You did my friend.. and you did this very good! Mich

Caught him looking and on the move. I like the colors and details, his feathers. They seem an enigma to me as well, even though I do see more of them here. I find it interesting how some are so skittish and some seem to tolerate your presence. Seems to me, when they are fishing they are the most interesting and tolerant.

I would love to have the herons be more friendly. They are shy around here too. I wish they would come around in the yard like sparrows or robins do. Wouldn't that be great to watch them that close? Great capture of this heron, Mr. C.

The herons on this site are all beautiful and you have added another to the list C. Great capture. I don't recall seeing one with the dark specks on the neck before. I take that back. I did see one but the specks were tire marks from a speeding auto. Sorry.

Your patience paid off Cornelius - such elegant birds - I have not yet succeeded in getting a good picture of one. My office faces a mere (lake) and there is a heron's island on it with many nests. Last week I was watching a very young one walking around the rooftop outside my window - we aren't allowed to take photographs at work, but I used by mobile and got a few shots lol! Lovely photo and well done!

Hi Mr C, the Heron is beautifully captured, sharp and detailed and nicely framed by all that simple green. Have to say that the bokh on this lens is strikingly harsh, nothing you can do about that of course.

Wonderful job, Cornelius. I couldn't get this close to one. First I'd have to find one though.
