The brig 'Astra' is leaving one of Flushing's harbours in Zeeland, the Netherlans to sail outward bound with 'guests'. The ship is sailed by both crew and guests. The latter because they will get , within one week, some maritime experience.

Hope you'll like this image. Thanks in advance for your comments.

It's going pretty fast for a ship with one sail spread ;)....Good picture of this old timer...R.

Wish I was sailing today instead of sitting inside on a rainy day. Love the blue colors. Beautifuuly captured, Cornelius.

Cornelius - Wind power is quite evident in this photo - both for the ship and the electricity generators that are visible. Your trademark clarity and crispness in this photo is excellent. Thad

That's a gorgeous shot of the ship, Mr. C. I would love to sail on one like that sometime. Thanks, also, the the heads up on Verena's daughter's post.

Exellent shot Sir C. Love how you composed it to capture all the background flavor as well. Thank you for the link to Lady V's daughters post. Special indeed.

What a splendid vessel - and your photography skills do her justice.

My neice was recently fortunate anough to partake in an Outward Bound course in NZ waters which she enjoyed enormously.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . I bet you could show us a lot of Maritime experience Sea. A good shot of the ship and I like the link that explains all about it. To me the Brig was the jail in the service. :) Not that I used it.
Thanks for the link to Angela's post.

Good health to you and yours.

What a great shot! The ancient and venerable ship and in the background a striking signs of modernity. I envy those who get to spend time on Astrid.
