Think there's a lot to see in this image. It was taken on a sunny Sunday in September (Sept. 25th) in the LOCKS OF VEERE, Zeeland, the Netherlands. As you can see, a lot of boat owners, often accompanied by some friends or relatives, have used this opportunity to make a ride with their boat on the Lake of Veere (which is just outside the locks). The locks are needed because of different water levels in the canal and on the lake. The image shows that people are still speaking friendly with each other. As soon as the (maritime) traffic lights switch to green, the skippers are allowed to sail out of the lock. It will become then silent and there will be 'some' (please notice the quotes) nervous tension. Often a wonderful, and sometimes 'funny' event for the 'audience' on the sidewalks of the locks. I have never heard however applause for the rather complicated performance, lol.
Although it's a different approach of the topic, hope you'll like my entry for the 'people' contest. Thanks in advance for your comment.

I like the concept of people being something more than an interesting person... there are people in action and groups of people in action...as you have captured here, just before the action begins. And the positions of the boats makes it clear what the goal will be and also what obstacles there will be.

Norman Rockwell would have loved this scene Sea. He most likely would have painted it from your photo. Your colors are even Rockwell like.
I think it is a great entry and shows imagination. Do people cuss in The Netherlands?

The canal does look very crowded ... with boats that is. I see friendly people conversing with one another & getting ready to spend the day on their favorite lake. Beautiful capture & contest entry, Cornelius. Best wishes.
