The color tones really reflect the winter cold, I think this is a most pleasing image to view, even though it makes me feel cold. :) As usual it is a well composed image. Tigs♥ =^..^=
Cornelius - As I view this fine image, I think of this verse of Christina Rossetti: In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, in the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Looks like the wind has a history of coming from the right side of this picture. The sun in in the left sky. So, we are looking south, methinks. You can feel that mornng chill and hear the rooster working as an alarm clock. A really neat picture, Mr. C.
Quite a frosty image, Cornelius. I bet it was nippy too, one of those mornings when the hairs inside your nose stand up. Such nice lighting from the sun through the haze. You've captured not only the temp, but the mood as well.
My first inclination, Cornelius, was just to say "wow" and leave it at that. It's gonna be tough to put into words what I think of your image, but that's never stopped me before.
Lately I've been walking my two dogs at sunrise with temperatures at about 25°F (-3.9°C). We rarely get snow, but my California blood isn't built for such cold mornings. I wear ski gloves that are so bulky that I can barely handle the two dog leashes. The idea that someone is trudging through the snow in these frosty conditions to take photos is a concept I have difficulty grasping. For all I know you just drive around with your car heater on full blast and take these shots out the car window. Nonetheless I'm impressed with your dedication to your art.
The title is perfect. I'm always puzzled when I see a note that reminds the Caedes folks to view at full screen size. When I see a shot like this, I download the shot at the largest available size and review it at 200% zoom to look for clues on how the work was done. Sometimes I find touch-ups or noise. This shot is wonderful. I'm especially amazed at the area around the sun since I tend to end up with weird banding.
I'm out of AC nominations, but this deserves a fave at the very least.
I am of the opinion that you should never 'bin' anything Cornelius! How i wish i could browse through your rejects. I imagine it would be a wonderful experience. The lighting in this shot is gorgeous and the trees seem to go on for miles. Beautiful!
