This little ancient shipyard in the tiny town of Arnemuiden, Zeeland, the Netherlands is the home base for the 'Stichting Behoud Hoogaars' (SBH), a foundation runned by volunteers to reconstruct and or repair ancient Dutch wooden fishing boats. When I took this image it was 5 years ago that the 'SBH' became the official rights to run this ancient shipyard. This lustrum was celebrated with all kind of activites. This image may give you an impression of that event.

Hope you'll like it. Thanks in advance for your comment.

PS: the black boat (in the middle of this image) was built on this shipyard in in 1878!

Nice to know some of our history is preserved!..where ever in the world it may be!...

Good angle for this..I notice on the lower right shore...is a tented covering..is that a place for having a coffee?..

Referring to this quote from Bob's comment above: "I notice on the lower right shore...is a tented covering..is that a place for having a coffee?", I like to answer his question:

Asking for 'having a coffee' instead of something else, shows that you're a very humble man Bob, but I have to disappoint you to a certain extent. It's the covered 'wreck' of an old fishing boat ready to undergo its reconstruction. In one of the buildings (not to be seen at this image) cold drinks were served, Cheers, lol!

There must be quite a demand for such boats for the shipyard to be in business. You have shown us those reconstructed boats before, I remember. Interesting and beautiful image Cornelius.

Nicely photographed and framed with natural greenery Cornelius. Reminds me of my old wooden fishing boat and the labor intensive hours of maintenance I spent on her.

This is stunningly beautiful, Mr. C. I love the angle, colors, the framing with the leaves, and the windmill in the distance. The boats look fantastic too, and I think I will come to Holland to buy one and then sail it all the way back home. LOL.
