My Dutch friend John Rozema aka rozem061 said in his comment on THIS IMAGE: "De vuurtoren is mijn inziens te dominant aanwezig. Persoonlijk had ik liever de hele toren op de foto gezien." which means in English: "The lighthouse is depicted to dominant. Personally I had prefered to see the whole lighthouse on the image."

Of course, I can't refuse such a request. Therefore this one.

Hope you'll like it too. Thanks in advance for your comment.

I love the lighting in this, Mr. C. The lighthouse looks great. I love lighthouses so much, that even just a part of one is OK by me!

High time someone said something else. I prefer the first one by all means, even if this one is a beauty in its way too. My reasons are exactly same as John's but the opposite. I want the lighthouse to prevail and dominate the image together with the sun. HOWGH.

The lighthouse dominates, yes, but not just because it's the largest object. What I'm seeing here is a contrast in form, function and light. The purpose of the lighthouse goes back to the Greeks of the 3rd century, B.C. and we all know how recent the development of the jet airliner is. We see the entire lighthouse in this image but only the vapor trail behind the jets. The lighthouse appears as a near-silhouette against the warm sunset and the vapor trail is a brilliant white, both strong elements. The downward angle of the hill, the triangle of sky between the hill and the top of the sunset clouds and the direction and length of the vapor trails pull our eyes across the image and down to the lighthouse, and that, dear friends, is what allows the lighthouse to dominate. (The effect is much like the "Skinner Box" method of setting up grocery stores—you may or may not realize that you have to pass by all the junk the store wants you to pay big bucks for to get to the staples like bread and milk—what happens in that store happens whether we are cognizant of it or not.) The physics of composition is strong in this photo, intended or not. Whatever the case, it makes for an excellent submission, well done from both photographic and artistic viewpoints. -Nik

Hoi,Cornelius !
is natuurlijk. Smaken verschillen nou eenmaal, en dat is maar goed ook!
Bedankt voor het plaatsen van deze foto Cornelius, ik ben er erg blij mee
Wens je verder een goed week-end !
John
