This is my entry for the 'Rainy Day' contest.

I suppose that I don't tell you a secret when I say that, to me and probably to you as well, rainy days are not my favorite days for taking pictures. I usually decide to delay a photo shoot till the weather has cleared up. On the day that I took this picture, I had left my home with very reasonable weather, but once I had arrived on my photo shoot destination (somewhere in Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands), I had to cancel the planned photo shoot because the rain started pouring down at once. When the raining has stopped briefly, I left my 'shelter' and took quickly some pictures (blood is thicker than water, isn't it?). The result is that I'm able now to enter the contest with a rather proper entry. I realize that you prefer sunnier images, but than we must have chosen for another contest topic, lol.

Hope however that you'll like this one. Thanks in advance for your comment.

Like I do...you should put your camera in a see through plastic bag...then you can walk about in the rain snapping like you enjoy it!....

After all....If you are used to wet knees!...then a wet baldy head is not a problem either! .. lol ☺

Looks good for the contest old mate!

Rainy days offer an entire array of different elements to photography; such as reflections, color changes and wet clothing! Going through my bins I notice that I have very little historical rainy days shots worthy of posting for contest purposes. Your photo is wonderful Cornelius. Depth, colors, puddles and even a gent on a bicycle rushing to get home before the next downpour. Bravo and best of luck in the contest!

This excellent capture is perfect contest entry Cornelius.
I love the architecture. The puddles are an added bonus, as is the lone cyclist hurrying home out of the rain.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Not only a beautiful street, but the reflections in the puddles are beautiful too. They are a great addition to a wonderful shot. Did it really rain, or did you hose down the area to get the rainy day look? LOL. Excellent image for the contest, Mr. C.

Actually the rainy day added much to this charming shot Mr.C.- the lovely red flowers around the doorways and the puddles definitely add to a lovely scene.

I like Bob's suggestion about using a clear bag to wrap your camera in. I may just borrow that idea. Regardless if this contest has two or two hundred entrees, yours will be in the hunt for the main prize, Mr. C.

I love the reflections in the puddles on the cobblestone street. What a quaint place! ... with geraniums and topiary, lace curtains... and someone has opened a window on the top floor. Colors are so much more vivid, and everything looks refreshed after a rain. Excellent entry!

Hartelijke groet
