I was dreaming I was grinding my teeth, SEA. Now I realize your photo woke me up. It's a good thing because I have a golf tournament today and need to hit the links.

I remember visiting such a mill in a place called Spalt in south Germany. There also I was impressed with the similar construction in wood. This is certainly interesting too.
Very well done, you handled this shot very well. I have tried to get some inside shots at a flour mill around here, but I'm never satisfied with the results. =^..^=tigs ☺
Images like this always bring to mind the truth of the old saw that "they don't make 'em like they used to." At age 60 I find myself in mild competition with much younger people in a similar profession. Unlike myself, however, they were never taught the basics of the profession and use only methods based on the newest technology. Consequently, they are often surprised when their results aren't as solid and when elements of their work fizzle. I imagine millers today, using the newest materials and methods, often have to fix things or make adjustments, whereas, if necessary, historic machinery like this wheel could be brought back into service and it would perform as well now as it did when first installed. Hooray for us antiques, both wooden and human! 8P
