Think that this friendly looking young marine guard pose no threat with his wooden riffle, lol. One for manic Monday.

His uniform originates from about 1800. Image was captured at 'Fort Rammekens', Zeeland, The Netherlands.

That hat is way too big. The rifle can be utilized for other means of defense, like clobbering your enemy over the head. Good one, Cornelius.

Spiffy uniform that looks a little too big for him...but he will grow in to it! Nice one.

If they gave him the old uniform they could have given him an old rifle (without bullets) as well. With the wooden rifle he looks like a comic figure but an ideal post for Monday! Nice and colourful shot Cornelius.

Yeah...no threat with that wooden rifle...unless he starts swinging it like a baseball bat! LOL. Great looking shot, Mr. C.

My first thought that the uniform & hat are so very similar to the marching band uniform / hat I wore in high school. Only slight difference is I wasn't holding a wooden rifle but rather a 'wooden' clarinet.

I like how the young marine is standing at attention with a bit of a smile on his face. Good one for Manic Monday, Mr. C.

What a young face and gentleman, I see in full he definitely didn't polish his boots to a high shine. also it looks like he's wearing an ear-ring. My brother was a Sergent in the ROTC and his boots were spit shinned. Wonderful colours and such history your showing us in his uniform in full detail
