This capture was taken on February 15th, 2015 at the most northern beach of the peninsula Walcheren, Zeeland, The Netherlands. Despite the winter sun was shining, it was cold, judging by the thick clothes of the beach walkers.

I saw something remarkable: the left arm of footbridge has no shadow. A curious phenomenon or just an optical illusion? That's up to you, lol.

I've my doubts whether this will be my entry for the contest. My only goal is to approve it by a Mod now. When I'm back after my break (at least till February 25th), I will then have sufficient time until the deadline to decide for 'yes' or 'no'.

It looks a good one to me old friend!....

Funny about the none shadow on the left!....Could be that the sun was too far down on the right for a shadow eh!.....

Good luck if you enter this

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

A nice well defined shadow and a very inviting path to the beach - even if it is cold. It had a warm look because of the golden colours.
Would make a fine entry

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Good shadows on the right but not on the left. On the right the sun's rays strike the fence at an angle and on the left almost from above? Makes a god entry all the same Cornelius.

I believe shadows appear based on where the viewer is standing in relation to the object in the sun. (This is as far as I am going with this, because I will confuse myself if I continue any further.) lol. I think you have a very excellent shot for the contest, Mr. C. The eyes take a trip down the path, across the sand and on out to sea. Beautifully composed and gorgeous too.

There are double shadows here Mr. C. from the fence and the sea grasses - I believe it has to do with the angle of the sun and the position of the photographer - it is well shot and would make a good entry.

Lovely looking scene and it does have a warm sunny look to it but one can see it winter with the gold grasses .Plus nice sharp focus and very good depth of field and great blue sky as well .Plus nice one for the contest and the shadow thing must be to do with the position of the sun ?

I like the subtle shadows in this one very much SEA. If you look at the folks on the beach and their shadows, it will tell you everything is proper in the shadow department.
Stay safe while you are gone.

Lovely beach shot Mr. C.!!! I think that path is calling my name. I love the composition and natural colors in this image. Can't comment on the missing shadow on the left because this is a beautiful photograph as is. Splendid work Mr. C.

This is a lovely scene and looks warmer than it sounds. Everyone over here is so ready for the warm beaches and gentle winds on the water that spring brings. This would make a lovely entry Mr. C - if You so decide to use it, Good Luck.

No need to put a date for such image, dear agent! LOL
It looks as lovely as in the summer which is coming here any week now...
Interesting selection of shadows indeed ! I bet it felt chilly but so invigorating... One thing I envy you a lot is living so close to sea coast, Boris would love it too I am certain.
