Variety is the spice of life, therefore I like to provide you with a maritime image this time.

Depicted is the Dutch pilot tender 'Gemini' on her way to a 'customer' on Flushing Roads, Zeeland, The Netherlands. Hope the pilot will stay dry while entering the seagoing vessel (not because of the sea spray but because of the approaching rain showers, lol).

"Hope the pilot will stay dry" - I once had an Elbe pilot who wanted a drink soon after taking over from me! He didn't want to stay dry. They don't do all that now-a-days of course. Lovely shot of the pilot boat rushing out to the incoming vessel. Clear details and nice colours.

If there is anything certain in this world, this is that the pilot WILL get wet all over for both reasons! LOL
Do not pretend that you do not recall ! :)
This is a tough job that takes real tough men. BTW I never heard about any female pilot, have you ?!
Thanks for this eye-opener - I needed that badly, having finished working around 07:00 hrs ...

I like the depth between the two vessels, Cornelius. Your photo tells the story of a pilot's job. With what they get paid ($$$!), a little water shouldn't dampen their spirits.

Love the bright colours of the pilot boat against the sea and threatening sky. Also like the way it draws you into the 'action'.

Well captured sea scene - I too hope the rain did not get him but I'm guessing they must go out in any weather to bring the vessels in. Excellent post Mr. C. - the marine shots are always interesting.

In looking at your fine image, I wouldn't have had any knowledge of what was going on, however, your narrative made this shot far more interesting. I can now comphrehend the urgency to try to get ahead of the impending storm. The Gemini looks to be under full throttle creating waves in her wake and those clouds look mighty ominous. Great Capture Cornelius!!!
