This 'Hairy Guest' has visited my garden 2 days ago. This Lime Hawk-moth (Mimas tiliae) has a wingspan of 70 - 80 millimeters (2.8 - 3.1 inch). In order to get a good impression of its size, please compare it with the size of the lilac tree leaves.

Very good capture of this unusual moth Cornelius. Probably it was hanging there all day sleeping.

It appears that he is wearing battle camouflage to blend in with his surroundings. Well "spotted" and photographed, Cornelius.

I would hate to have that thing trapped in the house, and flying all over..dive bombing me while I am trying to watch a ballgame or something. At first glance, I thought it was some sort of dead leaf hanging there. Close up, you can see the details very well in that hairy body! Amazing shot...and a good one for Wx2, Mr. C.

Wing spread, longer than most human fingers. He seems more concern with the leaf than that guy with the camera!

What perfect camouflage he has - you'd never spot him in the fall with those colors Mr. C. - excellent capture but I will happy if you keep him with you over there!
