It was a pity that the MSY (motor sailing yacht) Wind Surf arrived at night in this Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands port and departed the next day at night as well, so I wasn't able to see her sailing by with hoisted sails, but I'm content with this capture. Hope you'll agree with me.

PS: If you look at this picture at full screen size, you can see right on the picture (just left of the one mast sailboat) that a man is paddling with his surfboard. Maybe an inventive way to take pictures, but I still prefer to take my pictures on a more stable platform. Keeps anyhow my camera dry, lol.

WOW!!! That's quite an impressive sailing vessel Cornelius and a beauty as well - you still captured an excellent shot of her even though you were not able to see her in full sail. Read the link you posted - the computer-operated sails sounds interesting - thanks for posting this image - I have never seen a boat like this - would never know it existed - simply awesome - wonder where she is headed - Excellent Photography!!!!!!

High tech sailing (and luxury) on the seas. I once saw one of their fleet sailing between the La Maddalena archipelago and the Straights of Bonifacio (Corsica). Your photo does this beautiful vessel great justice. Well done, Cornelius.

Holy Moley that's what I calla sailing ship. It would have to be a sight with her sails up. Look at all those port holes. Wonder how many she can accommodate? I Googled her for info. Here's what I found: "Wind Surf is one of the largest sailing cruise ships in the world, and can carry up to 310 passengers, in a total of 154 staterooms, 31 ocean-view rooms and 122 deluxe ocean view staterooms, along with a crew of 214. She is 636 ft long."

First time I have seen/heard of this beauty Cornelius. Pity you couldn't get a shot with her sails on. A very impressive and sleek looking sailing vessel and a beautiful photo of it.

Wouldn't a voyage on this beauty be a dream of a lifetime? Any boat with masts, whether at full sail or at rest, is beautiful in my book, Mr. C. This ship is gorgeous (and she looks new). Although it would have been wonderful to view and photograph her under full sail, You still captured a wonderful image.

What a stunning vessel this is Mr C and so clean looking for it's age as well. You did a superb job capturing this beauty with nice sharp detail and superb natural colours plus light and the sky and water colour is breath taken .I also like how parts of the yacht is in shade but the rest is highlighted like the masks and control centre .As for the man on the surfboard I think he is looking for a way to get a board with out paying lol.Well done to amazing capture and for the history behind this lovely looking vessel.

At this angle it's hard to see (except at the top of the two forward masts) that the horizontal bars on the masts are actually mast support that extend out to the sides and about 40 degrees on each side. Seen from the top they would form a two-sided triangle (with the hypotenuse side missing). The sails are basically large, triangular spinnaker sails that are not attached to the horizontal supports the way they would on a traditional sailing craft. For anyone else reading this, following the link in the post will show you what I mean about the spinnaker sails. This is one big bloomin' boat, Mr. C., and a photo filled with details and elements to find and view. Excellent, as always.
