Probably when I say: 'Eel', the word only may cause a nightmare to you, but in some European countries, like Belgium and my country, it's a delicacy (mostly in smoked form).

For the eel fisherman on the Lake of Veere in Zeeland, The Netherlands -, who has drying his fishing nets here - eel fishing is an excellent way to earn a living with it.

Enjoy your meal, lol.

This is a gorgeous harbour photo, Mr. C. I love all the boats. The nets are certainly different than what we see here in the states on our shrimp boats. It looks as though the eels must go in and be unable to get out through that series of cone-shaped nets. Very interesting - I'd love to see a net with a catch in it. Here, we enjoy seeing eels in aquariums and even though I was aware that people like to eat them, I've never seen eel on any menus.

I have smoked eel, Mr. C., in one of my favorite sushi rolls - being of German extract on my mother's side I am very familiar with eel and of course herring. This is so colorful and such interesting nets.

Wonderful harbor scene. That's a lot of net Mr. C. He must be expecting a lot of eel. I can't say I've had eel but I also haven't had anything out of the water that I didn't like, so I'm game for trying some.

You have a way with colors, Mr. C. This handsome shot has colors galore and they all look fantastic. I especially love the green nets. Amazing scene with an amazing sky, too. Well done!

I love the color of the nets, and the presentation of this one Mr. C. I'm not big on sea food anyway (limited) so I will pass. Lol! I have actually seen one before sticking it's head out of the sand, creeped me out. :) tigs=^..^=

Afantastic compoistion Cornelius - in fact a splendid photo all round.
I only ever tasted eel once - that was enough ! I steer clear of the when alive too - the have very sharp teeth !
The nets look a bit like whitebait nets (it is the whitebait season here)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I didn't know they used net like that to catch eels. I saw a show on TV where a old fellow made a fish trap in a river to catch them. He smoked his catch and sold them and had a bigger demand than he could supply. I've never had eel but I'd try it if I got the chance. Your shot is interesting as well as beautiful. A quality image as always.

I never realized something as mundane as a fishing net could be so uniquely interesting and beautiful. Instead of nets they look like 60's ball gowns for very tall ladies. leave it to you, C, for always finding something to surprise and delight us.
