The breakwaters protect the coast or harbor from the force of waves and erosion. The light buoy guides the ship in safe waters, and on ships like the Rhonestern (oil/chemical tanker) strict safety rules apply. In short: safety measures are everywhere.

Image was taken on a Walcheren, Zeeland, The Netherlands, beach.

This reminds me of a John Masefield poem only it's not British..
Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack,
Butting through the Channel in the mad March days,
With a cargo of Tyne coal,
Road-rails, pig-lead,
Firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays.....R.

Even health safety there with the No Smoking sign. Outstanding composition, Mr. C. Beautifully done, as usual.

Without those safety measures it will be a rather risky adventure now-a-days. I remember how lenient the conditions were loading dangerous cargo compared to the regulations now in force. Nice shot of the ship heading towards Flushing.

Did you have on a life jacket when you took this SEA? With all those other rules, one can't be too careful.
Lots to see and enjoy.

I like your presentation with the breakers in the foreground, Cornelius. Crisp colors and details abound. I just don't understand why there is no smoking on a tanker. (lol)

Smile, without a reason why. Love, as if you were a child, Smile, no matter what they tell you Don't listen to a word they say Cause life is beautiful that way. (From the film "Life Is Beautiful")

Excellent composition on this!...Details are so sharp that the ship will slice through the choppy waters like knife through butter..

Great capture

I'm glad there are so many safety measures Mr. C. - I do also see the giant "no smoking" sign - well captured as always.
