This sunset image was taken on the north bank of the Western Scheldt river (Zeeland, The Netherlands) where it flows into the North Sea.

On the right side of the image, one can see a navigation light. The electric power is provided with a battery, charged with two somewhat angled solar panels. On top of the solar panels a kind of metal brush is attached to prevent that the seagulls can't 'produce' their droppings there. Without these provisions the solar panels would be ineffective within a short period of time.

Fantastic composition and presentation, Cornelius. The setting sun highlights on the navigation light pull it all together for me.

Very interesting Mr. C. I never thought of seagull "poop" being a hazard to navigation - wonderful rich golden color in this setting sun!

Very beautiful sunset shot Cornelius. Without those sharp steel pins I can imagine that the gulls will sit there and cover up the solar cells in no time.

Seagulls will 'always' find a way to poop anywhere, any-time! ☺

A Dandy of a scene, making it a delight to look upon!

The silhouettes on the right and the setting sun make for a super composition SEA. The ship on the horizon is icing on the cake.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
