The Storm Surge Barrier" (for further details, please check-out this link) is for the Zeeland, The Netherlands, people a kind of 'life insurance'. It has to prevent the inhabitants from disasters like this one.
Because of its huge size, I could only capture a part of it, but it's still impressive to me.
It's my entry for the 'Repeating Objects' contest.

Your image of the Storm Surge Barrier is amazing and would be a great entry for the current contest Cornelius - I found the links that you provided so informative - we need something similar in Ocean City, NJ as the constant beach replenishment gets to be quite expensive - Excellent Capture and Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I visited the "Delta Works" and "Neeltje Jans" many years ago and it was quite impressive to see this huge construction.Amazing capture and narrative aswell,Cornelius.

Very interesting narrative and links...horrible to be caught so unprepared...and comforting to know that protection is now in place.
The photo, itself, is great....clear focus and details and DOF..the barrier is very impressive extending far into the background. Also, this would make a great contest entry...it would have my vote.
