Although this image was taken a while ago, I like to continue my "Leiden" series, with this one. Depicted is the traditional windmill 'De Put' (The Pit) in Leiden, a town in the province of South-Holland, The Netherlands.
I seem to remember the view from some of your earlier posts ... Masterly composition here, SEAS. What I like most here is the beauty of old street - as you recall I am greatest fan of old Dutch & German and Belgian towns!!! The windmills are not even a must - the little old buildings are so precious. Although I admit the boat moored in foreground looks a true beauty too. :) Hugs and we go out as the weather is fine today - the last day this week with sunshine !!! SAM & SAAB
Smile, without a reason why. Love, as if you were a child, Smile, no matter what they tell you Don't listen to a word they say Cause life is beautiful that way. (From the film "Life Is Beautiful")
You do a great job of displaying the pride all of you countrymen have in their Country, SEA. I have never seen a photo of where you live, that even remotely looks like it is not well maintained. Beautiful scene per usual. I enjoyed listening to "End of the Line," on the link you provided on the Owd Timer's post.
I didn't have to see the poster to know whose this was Mr. C. - it has your signature all over it - from the windmill to the boats and the charming architecture.
This photo seems to capture the essence of being Dutch: the traditional windmill, the fully-rigged and colorful boats in the harbor, and the narrow quaint buildings that were built in another time. Great composition, colors and DOF, as usual. S&F
Everything Dutch is seen in this wonderful image, Cornelius. Leiden has a special place in US history, being the place where Separatists lived until traveling to Massachusetts Bay, and where Huguenots organized their travels to New Amsterdam. This image is vintage Mr. Sea quality!
