This image was taken recently. It shows a part of the Lake of Veere with its adjacent ancient small town Veere.

The building on its left border is the 'Campveerse Toren', built between 1358 and 1390 as part of Veere's fortification. The tower had in that time also a town tavern and a lighthouse function. Nowadays it is a hotel and restaurant where famous guests have spent and still spend some time.

Very good depth in this one, and how neat that they are still getting use out of the building. I like the composition of this one as well, kudos Mr. C. tigs=^..^=

I see that the tour boat is boarding for the next trip around The Lake of Veere. We landlubbers will enjoy this beautiful walk along the shore. Great lines in this composition, Cornelius. Bravo!

A fine image which makes one wants to go there and take a stroll and visit the restaurant too. Your usual clarity and composition add much to the overall beauty of the scene Cornelius.

I would have cloned out that dullard in the blue shirt although his shirt matches the sky very well. I'm not a fan of horizons that split the shot. Typically if the sky is dramatic, I opt for more sky. In this case I would have opted for less sky and more town and foreground.

Love the shot of the town, but don't get too cocky with those old dates. Here in the U.S. we have buildings and monuments that are sometimes as old as 50 years although most of them have been designated as historical monuments.

Delicious shot.

Hello Roger,

Thanks for your comment on my 'Path Along The Lake Of Veere' image.
Of course you've the right to express your, anyhow positively meant, opinion, and I've read it carefully in the hope to improve my future images.
Therefore my goal is to let you know whether I'll use your positive critique or not in order to prevent you from a waste of effort.

I know that you're not a fan of, by you so called, 'split horizons', but you have to know that it's my own well considered choice. On my turn I hate when people are referring to the 'rule of thirds' while treating this rule as a dogma. They forget that it's only an advice! In this case I've used this 'advice' not in the horizontal way but in the vertical way (therefore the 'Campveerse Toren' wasn't centered in my image but placed on the left side). Of course the vertical position of the horizon (dividing the sky and surface) was considered by me very well, but, in my opinion, cropping the sky would had given a too important role to the surface, so that it would have become less interesting.
About cloning out the person walking on the lower part of the path: it was considered to me very well too. I decided to keep the person in my image, in the first place because I prefer to capture images as natural as possible, and in the second place, it prevents that the image will be a pure static one, instead of a more dynamic one.

Best regards, Cornelius aka SEA

Without getting technical (as I'm not qualified)..This is beautifully composed, Cornelius. Colors are stunning and the path directs me to the people on the upper level admiring the scenery.

I think the composition is perfect Mr. C. I like the amount of town, sea and sky as is. I probably would have cloned out the person but that's me - I'm not crazy about people in my shots. To each their own I say!
