This time no picture of people or animals as entry for Manic Monday, but this strange scene: a tree stump covered with geraniums and fenced ('caught' or 'protected') with barbed wire.

I saw this scene during one of my photo shoots on the peninsula Walcheren, Zeeland, The Netherlands, and decided to take a picture because of the flowers and textures of the tree stump, but not because of the barbed wire (lol).

I have, because of the strange effect, decided not to clone out the barbed wire.

As I've said already, it's my weekly entry for Manic Monday.

PS: Wish all the USA Caedes-members a Happy Independence Day

Strange indeed Cornelius. On closer look it seems they have put some soil in there for the Geraniums. They don't normally grow on trees like orchids. Good one for M Monday.

As you pointed out, the barbed wire adds to this MM post, Cornelious. As if the stump were to escape from being the host to flowers. Well done.

Somebody had the great idea to plant these flowers here. It brightens up the rough stump and harsh barbed wire.

What a great idea to use an old stump - hollow it out some and put soil in and instant planter! Well spotted and captured Mr. C. and in this scene I believe the barbed wire belongs.

This is beautiful, I see more folks around here doing this with old tree stumps, it's surprising how the flowers grow in these spots. Terrific capture.

What a fine use of an old tree trunk - planting geraniums. Now, with this wonderful photo, many more can enjoy its beauty. Thank you!
