This is the second one of my series 'The Race Is On'. This series show you images wich are taken at the annual 'Van Loon Sailing Event', held this year on July on the Lake of Veere, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

Edit: referring to various comments: at regattas often several times a 'track' has to be sailed. The start and end of such a track is marked with a buoy. After passing the buoy, one has to sail in the opposite direction. This is also the case here. The boat that comes first to the finish (after sailing the determined number of tracks) is not automatically the winner. Because the boats vary in size and have different sail area, first must be determined, after a complicated calculation, who really is the winner.

I don't recall seeing sails this colour before C but I've not been on the water much as you know. The competitors seem pretty relaxed here, nice shot. (o:

Absolutely love this one, one reason is my favorite colour is green & love that sail boat - such fabulous detail as usual.

Have a question - what is the part of that boat that looks like a oar on the side of the green boat?
