The Zeeland farmers have held on September 3rd, 2016 the yearly ploughing competition.

The event took place on the peninsula South-Beveland, The Netherlands.

One could see ploughing with two or three draft horses together ('Folklore Ploughing'), and ploughing with old ('Folklore Ploughing' too), and new tractors.

In this (new) series I'll show you, from time to time, the above mentioned disciplines. This is the 1st one of this series.

We have had one at Beamish recently!...

Wonderful to watch....the skills involved of the 'Old ways' have not been forgotten doing it this way!..

Good angle for this fine capture

Looking at these draft horses I would say this was 6 HP instead of 3. Nice and interesting capture Cornelius.

These are magnificent horses and your capture of them in full flow of their work is wonderful. The framing too sets it off perfectly. I look forward to seeing the rest in this series. Well done!

Reminds me of my dad plowing in the field with old Maud. She was half Clydesdale. A huge old horse. My Dad was 5ft. 8in. but he could work circles around anyone. This is a great image Cornelius and thanks for the memories.
