This sculpture can be found on the 'outskirts' of the little town of Arnemuiden, Zeeland, The Netherlands.
Arnemuiden has a relative large community with (retired) fishermen. The sculpture gives an impression of the tiny wooden fishing boats that were used a long time ago. It's a kind of tribute as well, because many fishermen of this community have lost their life while they were fishing in severe weather or post WW II conditions (the latter because of exploding sea mines). When you'll check-out this post, you'll see that a lot of these (refurbished) boats are used now for leisure purposes only.
For me, as retired 'Maritimer' (not a fisherman however), it's strange to see a ship or boat in such an environment. It's like the skipper had used the wrong manoeuvres with the result that his boat was stranded. Almost an impossibility for these well experienced seamen. Therefore it's my entry for 'Manic Monday'.
PS: this image was taken on October 18th, 2016. You can see that the leaves on the trees almost are still green.
