This restored naval canon (probably from the 17th or 18th century) was recently placed on the outskirts of the little medieval town of Veere, Zeeland, The Netherlands, to decorate the town with the goal to make Veere even more attractive to tourists than it al ready is.

I think however that it wasn't aimed properly. Instead of giving this little town 'protection', it poses a 'threat' now, (☺) (please notice the quotes).

A tad manic situation. Therefore it's my entry for Manic Monday.

Imagine aiming that thing when the ship s rolling! In spite of the menacing cannon this is a lovely and peaceful scene and a very good capture of it Cornelius.

Great capture! The cannon base looks newly painted, but if I were in one of those boats in its line of fire, it might make me nervous that a mast could go missing! lol

I am not a weapon type of a person, but I love them in the museums. Nice capture, Cornelius.

Terrific perspective is shown in your capture, Cornelius. You are correct in that the mast of the historic boat in the canal goes first, then the church. :-)

It might be a Manic Post to you, but to me it's fantastic, love the way the big cannon really pops with that bright red base. Superb composition as usual my friend, Bravo

Great capture and history. Fortunately, I don't think even in Bristol fashion that the cannon would have the firepower to damage the church.
