This, 'against the light' image shows the tugboat 'Union Emerald' on the Western Scheldt river (where it flows into the North Sea) on its way to provide assistance to seagoing vessels.

The shimmering river under a dramatic sky has struck me.

Good capture considering the light conditions Cornelius. That sky looks threatening although the sun is shining.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Drama in the sky, but still waters. Great job, Sea.

I like the dark shoreline, the soft dramatic clouds that contrasting the shimmering waves. Nice one.

Yes, the shimmer almost makes it not look like water but something more solid. At first I thought the pilot boat was towing something, then I saw the water churning at what had to be the stern and realized that's where the prop is and those light-colored vertical "dashes" are probably floats hanging over the side of a lower rear deck. That shimmer really throws off a clear identification of the rear portion of the boat, at least initially. It also makes this a "truer" photo than most, exactly how it appears to someone there. No one can gripe about the light washing out the water because bounced sunlight off water looks just like this... there's no way to make it look "better" and no one should suggest it. And as others have mentioned, the sky and water are loaded with drama, albeit of an entirely different nature. Outstanding, C.

Really like the water looks silver withe the textures and that's a stormy looking sky
