Although I've used a tripod, it was pretty hard to achieve the desired quality because of both the heat haze (trembling air) and the maximum focal length of the by me used lens (FL of 300 mm).

Hope however that the quality is acceptable to you.

Depicted is the Eastern Church of Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands, seen from behind a inner dike along the Canal through Walcheren .

I think this is a splendid photo Cornelius - a delight to view.

I am always impressed that people use tripods - I never do because I would forget what I was about to shoot by the time I got it attached ! I do have one and it lives very comfortably on a shelf at home. I may try to make myself be more active with it.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

More than the hidden church the sunlit scene in front strikes one at the first glance. I can see that the glare was harsh but still you got a good view of the dome.

What I really like about this is that I can see the heat Mr. C. - it's 92F here today but feels like 101F because of the humidity and this looks the air around here. The church is perfectly framed by the tree trunks.

I like the composition... what attracted my attention was the way those trees formed an interlocking frame inside the shot -- with the church as a focal point. I also like the colour of the sky... it's unusual but works well. :-)

For many years I regularly worked with photographs that were taken as far back as the latter 1850's and, when someone (mostly editors) would complain about dust spots and scratches, I would point out that that is a feature of old photos one simply accepted. The only real crisp old photos were ones exposed on glass plate negatives, and those would sometimes have giant cracks running across them. The same is true of photos that incorporate close and distant features, like this one of yours, C. Even on a cool, crisp, dry winter day, or right after a rain, I expect to see the distant features appear with less resolution and color, to some degree. No worries. I like it, but I really thought your cathedrals in the Netherlands were bigger than this? ;oP
