This image is taken at the 'Van Loon Sailing 2017 Event', held this year in July on the Lake of Veere, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

To know more about this event, please check-out the narrative of THIS ONE.

Think it's helpful to provide you with some explanation: at regattas the vessels often have to sail several times a 'track'. The start and end of such a track is marked with a buoy. After passing the buoy, one has to sail in the opposite direction. The boat that comes first to the finish (after sailing the determined number of tracks) is not automatically the winner. Because the boats vary in size/shape and have different sail area, first must be determined, after a complicated calculation, who really is the winner.

Knowing this, you might expect that the white 'dinghy' with the boy will be the winner. A tad manic situation however, because he couldn't sign up for the match because not having the proper type of boat. Perhaps this was the reason for his 'teasing' (by crossing the tracks without respecting the maritime rules).

Therefore it's my entry for Manic Monday.

PS: the old steam tug boat behind the sailing vessels is a boat with the jury.

What a wild arrangement of water craft, C., and I'm not talking about just all the colors."The Little Sailboat Who Could"... a simple take on an old and well known children's story, here in the U.S., pretty much along similar lines as your story about this boy. As far as him following the race rules? If he's not officially in the race he shouldn't have restrictions (as long as he stays safely out of their way). My son and his friends would all climb into a rowboat, with a mast and plenty of beer, and paddle around a lake in western Nebraska. They timed it to coincide with a fishing tournament that was run by rabid fishermen with $30,000 boats and gear. Our guys would run a black pirate fish (wearing an eye patch) flag up the mast and paddle by the big boats, saying things like "Aaaarrrrhhh, matey, heave to!" and count all the shaking heads and glares. It was hilarious. Did you by chance get a full shot of that steam tug? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

A perfect photograph with very nice colours and details Cornelius. Also perfect clarity overall. The competitors won't be pleased with the boy's adventure. A good one for manic Monday too.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Referring to Pat's comment above:
The race starts at 09:00 and ends at 17:00, so a long, but when the weather conditions are good, a pleasant ride, ☺ .
