I don't know when and how this old steam locomotive has crossed the big 'pond'. What I know however is that, to me, it was an interesting subject for a nostalgic capture.

This image of the passing train was taken on a private property (with permission) along the heritage railway on the peninsula South-Beveland, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

Nostalgia for me too. I remember waiting for the "choo choo train" so often in my young days. Beautiful shot with sharp details including the steam (or smoke ?).

Great pic....During the Second World War engines of this type were used for transports supporting the American invasion army. In 1947 this engine has been acquired from the army surplus stores by the Oranje Nassau (coal) mine (Dutch State Mines) to be used for shunting operations. ....R.

This might smoke folks out if it ran on Raj's underground railway SEA. I surmised it came over in WWII.
This is a train lover's delight.

By early 1918, during WWI, Mr. C., the war had so disrupted normal life and commerce in western Europe that most civic and commercial functions had either slowed considerably or shut down completely, including the trains. Yes, the 40 et 8's were still transporting troops in France and elsewhere but, when America joined the fight, John J. Pershing of the AEF realized we needed to bring a lot more to Europe than simply troops. An entire transportation system (trains, trucking, ships, etc.) was created and installed to make sure the allies could bring constant pressure against the Germans, to overwhelm them. It's quite possible that this engine was part of that system. Do you know the date of manufacture or installation of this one?

---Do you know the date of manufacture or installation of this one?--

I only know that it was made in 1924, because I was told so. Both the comment of Richie and you have surprised me, by 'revealing' to me unknown details. Both Richie and you: Thanks for that!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Joking aside C, well done, especially for capturing the steam and smoke on a overcast day.
