Another 'oldie' that was recently captured by me in the air in the vicinity of Zeeland Airport, The Netherlands. It's the Piper J3C-Cub, built in 1944, and refurbished by the 'Wings to Victory' foundation. On the fuselage one can read: "US-Army L-4J Airforce serial No 45-4489", because it's the ex USAAF 45-4488. The official registration number now is PH-UCS/54488 however.

These were observation aircraft used mainly to spot for artillery, but occasionally for tanks and infantry. If they were available, air-to-surface rockets would occasionally be mounted on them as protection from small arms fire. Similar planes were used in Korea and Vietnam for the same use. You sure got a well focused shot here; it was easy to zoom in and read the nose printing and the expressions on the two men in the cockpit. S&F.

I don't know what size lens you used, but it sure did its job SEA. If the people in the plane smiled, you could tell if they had any cavities.

Hello Tick,

I've used the Nikon AFS Nikkor 18-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED VRII lens.

Exif data for this initially RAW (NEF) image:

ISO 160, F 7.1, 1/1000, FL 135mm, shutter priority (P).

Best regards, SEA

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The background colour adds the interest to let your focus centre on the aircraft!....Very nice work.
