Two days ago (April 22th, 2018) I've performed a kind of SAR (Search And Rescue) operation. The result was that I've saved the life of a baby goose that had ended up in a small overflow basin with a round overflow threshold, situated somewhere in a Zeeland, The Netherlands polder.
The youngster couldn't climb over this threshold and became very tired, with the possibility to get drowned. Despite my presence, the parents stayed with another baby goose anxiously in the neighborhood. Although my physical condition in fact didn't allow to perform this, to a certain extent risky, operation, my heart said to be inventive. So I broke a dead branch of a tree and with that I've brought the, loud protesting, baby goose, by giving it a push under its 'bottom', back into the open water. After this 'rescue operation' the 'family' disappeared at full speed without saying 'Thanks' to me (☺) . I couldn't take a picture of my rescue action because of my not that comfortable position there, but shortly after their departure I could take some shots. One of them is showed here.
Nice shot of the family now happily together.
