The miller and his wife (standing at the 'balcony' of the windmill) have just turned the mill into the proper wind direction by turning/rotating the 'steering wheel'.

One can see by the to the wings/blades attached sails that the mill is in full action now.

I remember doing that when we visited a friend in Bridgend, South Wales. He was the working miller at St Fagin's open museum!...

Having the people up their really gives a great perspective to the enormous size of the windmill Mr. C. Each blade must be 30- 40 feet.
