In addition to Bob's comments above: the Chinook drops a so-called Bambi bucket (water bag) into the sea. This is filled with 10,000 liters of water and, once on the spot, this water mass is poured into the fire.

Well captured Cornelius. These folk do a wonderful job. One of our NZ firefighters was killed just the other day firefighting in Australia when his Monsoon bucket became entangled with a tree. So sad, They are very brave.
