I took this picture in a tropical garden somewhere on the peninsula South-Beveland, Zeeland, The Netherlands. I deliberately have chosen not to send it in on Manic Monday or Wacky Wednesday because I don't want to ridicule the - for me unknown - sculptor in any way. I also could not find and obtain any further information about this sculpture. I suspect that it was taken from the Far East or African tropics to eventually serve as an ornament in this garden.

I hope that Caedes-friends can provide us with some details/characteristics about this kind of art.

This would be worth researching...looking close-up..you can see the fine craftsmanship in the artwork!....

(As an afterthought....Does that 'Tropical Garden' not have any info on this?)

Bob, referring to your above comment: I went to the information desk, but they weren't able to provide me with further details. So I went to their website: the same story. All about their entrance fees, and about the restaurant attached to the garden, but only some general and superficial information about my interest. Very disappointing. Hence the call in my narrative.

Edit:

I got a suggestion from 'Owd Bob' by a PM, so I'll provide you with THIS LINK.

Considering just the large head of the main creature/demon here, I have something similar hanging on my living room wall, a large demon-like wooden mask I sent home from the Philippine Islands many years ago. The large forehead seems to be a common element between them, along with many nasty teeth, but as to the significance behind them I could not say. I found it unusual, though, to see a lizard as the "familiar" of the demon.
