Depicted is the HNLMS Van Speijk, a multi-purpose frigate of the Royal Netherlands Navy, moored, on the occasion of a port call, at one of the quays of a Flushing, Zeeland, The Netherlands, harbor.

PS: the red nose on the bow indicates that the Van Speijk has crossed the equator during her recent deployment time. If she would sail over the arctic circle, the nose will be changed into blue then. Because of the Dutch Navy tradition: it will be done by the youngest officer and youngest sailor on board.

Such a crystal clear image Cornelius and the atmosphere of he port is apparent in the picture . I can smell the sea!
That is a very interesting tradition of painting the bow. I have crossed the equator by sea 3 times - maybe I should have a red nose :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I assume Rulolph was the name of the sailor who painted the nose of the ship SEA. I'm surprised you didn't become a stowaway after getting this close.
I bet your veins were pumping salt water!
Excellent composition and information. Is that a blue crane? How is it used?

---Is that a blue crane? How is it used?---

Owd Fella Tick (OFT), when meant figuratively: an iron crane doesn't show any emotions and hasn't any feelings, 😁 . When meant literally, I like to confirm that it's an electrically driven blue painted crane (seen from its rear side), having a task in transporting goods to and from ships.
