The Dutch pilot tender 'Lynx' on her way to the outward bound container ship 'Northern Dexterity' in order to transfer the pilot there.

This image was taken at the Western Scheldt, Zeeland, The Netherlands, where it flows into the North Sea.

I love the movement of the waves and can feel and smell the spray. A wonderfully bright and clear image Cornelius !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

It is a bit choppy there that day...Better him than me, as I would 'not' get on the pilot boat...

A calm weather type of guy, I am...😁

I bet you wish you were the pilot being transferred SEA. Is a pilot the same as a Captain?
You probably found it difficult to contain(er) yourself while taking this photo.
Great action and view in this magnificent photo. It is a wonderful representative of your part of the world.

---Is a pilot the same as a Captain?---

In answer to Owd Fella's Tick (OFT) forwarded question above: I don't know what the actual situation is now. But in the time that I had my active maritime career, one could only become a pilot, when one had a previous career as merchant navy officer (not necessarily captain, but e.g. mate). The aspirant pilot was specifically trained to become a pilot in a certain sailing area. When the training was ended successfully, one first had to gain practical experience in the company of a senior pilot.
Only after a well-proven suitability, one could operate as an independent pilot, with the obligation to receive periodic an update training.
When a pilot takes over control from the captain, the captain however remains responsible!

That roughness of that water sent my stomach churning much like the water! Excellent maritime capture as only you can do Mr.C.

The Dutch pilot appears to be clipping along at a good speed...fabulous capture of all the water movement.

What an excellent motion you have captured here, you can sense the waves and the boats as if you were there. Details and colors are superb, you have provided us with another fantastic action shot.
