The owner of this modern recumbent bike has experienced if one of his accompanying dogs doesn't want to continue walking.
This photo shows his pragmatic solution to this somewhat manic situation.

Those are some rather substantial tires and frame on that bike. Until I read your text, C., I was thinking it had a small engine on it. Then again, my city has plenty of hills in it (I live at the top of one) and I usually look at bikes with that in mind. I imagine the Netherlands is mostly flat enough to be able to pedal nearly anywhere without too much effort. From some of the idyllic scenes you've shown us over the years, with well-kept winding roads and pathways, I bet biking there is a very pleasant pastime. Having your dogs accompany you would be a bonus, assuring you are photographed often by itinerant shutter bugs. ;o]
