This mural was captured by me (with permission of course) on July 4th, 2019 in the Maria Magdalena Curch in the town of Goes, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

A pretty tough job, because the height of the mural caused distortion of the scene while the stray light coming out of the church windows panes has a distorting lighting effect. I was able to compensate these effects however.

I was told that this biblical mural depicts the angel Michael with his flaming sword as gatekeeper of Paradise.

It looks great SEA. I have a lot of problems with lens distortion on buildings and murals. How do you correct this problem? I have tried many things.
I had to fave this because it is one of the more beautiful ones I have seen.

Hello Owd Fella Tick (OFT),
Thanks for your comment.

To explain this exactly would be a too extensive story. I will therefore suffice with a brief explanation how I handle this matter.
The RAW (NEF) capture is first edited with the Adobe Photoshop Camera RAW 8.3 program and saved as a TIFF capture.
This TIFF capture is then edited with Adobe PS CS. First I use the 'Filter/Distort/Lens Correction' feature and then correct successively:
-Angle;
-Remove Distortion;
-Transform/Vertical Perspective;
-Transform/Horizontal perspective;
-Chromatic Aberration/Fix Red/Cyan Fringe (at 200% size);
-Chromatic Aberration/Fix Blue/Yellow Fringe (at 200% size).
Next I use 'OK' and 'Flatten Image'.
Than I select with either the Magnetic Lasso, Magic Wand, or Rectangular Marquee Tool the area that needs correction. Than I select the Ctrl/L mode to change the level (using often the right click possibilities as 'feather' and 'select inverse' too), but with 'Image/Adjustments' there almost countless possibilities to edit the selected area in the desired way.
'Flatten Image' again and save as a PNG-format capture.

I like to say again that most work has to be done with the 'Filter/Distort/Lens Correction' feature. Patience and do a lot of practicing will give the desired result.

Wish you success with it.

Best regards, Cornelius.
