Due to the Covid-19 (Corona) pandemic, I can't go out for an outdoors photo shoot.
My alternative is to provide you with some photographs from the 'bin'.
This one is taken in at the end of April, 2019, showing that the medieval little town of Veere, Zeeland, The Netherlands is surrounded by flowering hawthorns. The depicted steeple isn't a church steeple but the steeple of the town hall. This town hall isn't used any longer as Veere has a modern new constructed town hall. The carillon in the steeple still functions however.
Take care, stay safe and healthy in these difficult times, my friends!
To know more about a carillon please check-out this link.
Veere's carillon can be played in two ways:
a-by a carillonneur (manual mode);
b-by a carillon control drum for playing automated music (automated mode). The tunes on this control drum change three times a year.
Possibility 'a' is done at special events, mainly in the summertime while possibility 'b' is used twice an hour at day and night time.
The carillon of Veere (only available in the Dutch language) is situated in the Town Hall steeple (built in 1474) and has 47 bells now. The initial size of the carillon was 17 bells (1734), and was extended with 9 bells in 1790, 2 bells in 1948, and 18 bells in 1972. The control drum was constructed in 1548.
