The former Ocean Minesweeper HNLMS 'Onverschrokken' (Intrepid) M886 was redesignated in 1965 as an escort vessel A856 and converted in 1972 into a torpedo work ship HNLMS 'Mercuur' A856 for the Royal Dutch Navy. After her definitive retirement in 1986, the ship was given a new 'life' as a museum ship in Flushing, a town In Zeeland, The Netherlands.

The vessel was built in the United States of America as a unit of the non-magnetic Aggressive Class wooden ocean minesweepers with number MSO 483. More than 80 of this type were built (53 for the US Navy). De HNLMS 'Mercuur' is the last remaining, almost complete ship of that class.

Edit: because of Owd Fella Tick's (OFT) comment below about the film 'Mister Roberts', I like to provide you with this link. Although it's not the same kind of ship, think this post will be a good and appropriate entry for the SNATM-theme (🎥). Thanks OFT!

I know it's not the same kind of ship, but I immediately thought of the play and movie "Mister Roberts" when I saw this beauty SEA.
What a great capture.

A good photo of this old timer which has done more than its share of duty and a good description of it too Cornelius.

Excellent entry for SNATM SEA. Anyone who has not seen the movie owes it to themselves to check it out.
Henry Fonda, James Cagney, and Jack Lemmon; plus William Powell of "Thin Man" fame in his final role makes for a great cast.
