My goodness, I cannot describe what this image does to my senses; the things that must have gone on here. The most compelling aspect of this image is the proof of disrepair and neglect. Just as so many of those that may at one time been admitted here, to be forgotten.
The great thing is that this important part of our history is being restored. Hopefully the state has also restored the onsite cemetery in a respectful manner. They too often go long periods of time with little attention.
I encourage anyone that sees this image to go to their favorite aerial maps website and view these monuments from above...Kirkbride buildings are an awesome thing to see from any angle.
Great composition, good angle, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Very interesting. We have come a long way. Now they want to get them in and out as quickly as they can. I would have hated to call this place home regardless of how beautiful the building is.
What a story. Will you publish a book? I think you've got something going here.
The trick would be to get a good introdution written by a doctor and one by an official concerned with the matter. Amazing. Well done.
