Very pretty flower! The things in the middle....it's been a while since grade school I forget what they're called...pistons? stamen?....are a little out of focus. I don't know much about macro shots...but if you can adjust the depth of the shot a tiny bit, it would get everything in focus. Other than that, I really like it. Good job! =)

Actually, 2 clicks of Sharpen did quite a good job on the three in the rear, Geri. It's a lovely shot.
Don't know what camera you're using, but if you put your focus point on the stamen stems, near the top, you'll likely have everything in sharp focus.
Depth of Field, carries 2/3rds behind, and 1/3rd in front of the point of focus, or you can focus on one of the petals, that's roughly the same distance, as the point mentioned, above. Just don't forget to keep your shutter release button pressed halfway down, when you focus, recompose the area you want, then continue pressing, the rest of the way, to fire the shutter.
It's very good, and lovely colours.
I agree with the commentators above, it's a beautiful shot and you chose a good detail. Doug's techtips are very useful ad really worth the money ;-)) Sometimes we are limitied by our camera gear but most of the times we don't fully know what we are doing. Don't get me wrong, I mean that in general and including myself. The colors are so lovely and when I watched it as a thumb I expected a softened picture through some filter's use. Keep on trying, Terri and I will be sure that your results will improve quickly. Neverhteless, this is a nice image - I really like it.
Stunning colors abound on this one Geri!! Well composed snap...the others offer up some excellent tips 'n' tricks!! You just keep on clickin', can't wait to see more!!
