Another photo from the lillock bush this summer. I sat & watched this guy and about a dozen others flutter around this bush on my last birthday. I believe it's either an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail or a Canadian Tiger Swallowtail. Enjoy! I took this with a Casio EX-Z1050 Camera

I am so envious. The Tiger Swallowtails in my neighborhood are so camera shy. Put the camera up and you'll see three or four within seconds.

Great lighting, composition, and selective focus. This one appears to be only minutes away from emerging from the chrysalis. What a winning combination.

Well, that's a nice, crisp butterfly photo. They are cagey little buggers, aren't they? I've found it quite difficult to capture them, but when you get one, it's sooooo worth it. This one is well-rendered too. I'd like to see two things though that could improve the image: 1) According to the Rules of Composition the subject of an image should be best placed at the 1/3 point of your image. Your camera probably has the option of showing a grid pattern on the viewfinder. This helps place your subjects at these critical points. Also the out-of-focus flowers are a bit distracting. You can get a deeper depth-of-field by using a higher F-Stop aperture setting on your camera. Usually our cameras have the option of choosing Aperture Priority or Shutter (Exposure) Priority (AE Priority). If you check this setting out you can do wondrous things. I hope this is helpful. Again though - great image.
