I accidently shot a picture of a receipt that was on my lap as I was a passenger in a car. I liked the detail so I took it to PS and played around with it (a lot). When I asked my husband for his opinion, he said it didn't interest him. Well, I guess that is how art is; some find one thing interesting and some find that something else draws their interest.

I think it's the way I feel about abstract or 'modern' art like that of a Jackson Pollack or a Clyfford Still whose abstracts look like nothing much to me, but sell for millions.

Anyway, whether the 'art' lies in the doing or in the finished piece is not certain to me. I just know I enjoyed playing around with the pic and maybe someone will like it, though others won't. It's okay with me if you don't. ;o)

As an abstract image it looks good Cindy. You hid the amount well before you showed the image :)

I had typed quite a long comment here Cindy but scrapped it as it was too pompous. Yes it does qualify as art, and I particularly like the pixelated yet clear view with the fragmented colours. ... .. .. oh shucks I'm sounding pompous again! )o:

Cindy, my youngest brother is graduated at the art academy in Breda, the Netherlands, and nowadays a well known artist in my country and some European countries. A couple of years ago, when I was in his studio to admire his work, he received a deserved praise from me.
A year later I was there again. In my opinion, his work showed no progression at all. It was even on the contrary, as I didn't even recognized where his recent work stood for. When I told him that honestly, he said: "Dear brother Cornelius, please look at the title", which could be read on a sign beneath his contemporary art works. The one I'm talking about, was entitled 'Exercises for the eyes'. "Look," he said "If you had seen inmediately what it was, your eyes didn't need to be practiced."
The price of this work however, when compared to his original work, was more than tripled and his work was sold like hot cakes! That's 'art' to me as well, lol. Contemporary art therefore is a kind of an elastic concept, to me. Think your husband will agree with me.
You've said it very well: "Some find one thing interesting and some find that something else draws their interest." Just a matter of taste.

Fine post though!

Regards, Cornelius.

Your image certainly Qualifies as Art... and Even as an Accident the composition has its Qualities. I think you Chose well to Fragment the Pixel's, though, I'd be Interested in Seeing how B&W or Sepia might Have fared...

It makes one stop to study it. For me, that makes it a photograph rather than a snapshot. Also, the post work adds drama.

There are 'some eyes' that can 'see' objects, scenes, or whatever!...And you have that 'gift' that can 'see' what makes it interesting!

I love this...you 'saw' what most people would neglect!

Well done too!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
