again...it was -35. my d70 only lasted for about 30 shots then the display went funny, and it wouldnt let me shoot consecutive shots within about 3 seconds of eachother, then i decided it was time to put it away. so soon hopefully i'll get the film developed from my dads camera, and get a new scanner that can do negatives.

haha, its very true, i wore a Tee, a fleece, a liner + jacket, snowpants, woolsocks+lined winter boots, neckwarmer, headband, hood. i wore a little biking glove for holding the camera for the 10s required to take shots, then quickly stuck them back into my gloves. i couldnt find the glove for my left hand, so whenever i pulled my left hand out to fiddle with the tripod or lens or something it would just about stick to them, and my dads old FM2 has a very low eyepoint, so you have to stick your face right against the camera, and my nose tried to stick to it constantly, and felt like someone was stabbing it with pins. every 10 min or so i had to hunch up and stick my hands in my armpits so i could use them again. thats pretty much all the gory details, but the underside of my nails hurt for a couple days following this excusion ;)

Excellent use of Depth of Field, color, and texture. The shot does, however, look a bit soft (slightly front-focused).

Very nice capture. I like that neon pink glow that seems to be present when it gets so cold. Yep, the pineapple express is headed your way. Look forward to more of your wonderful shots:-)

i agree about the focus, i find whenever i take pictures of frost/snow they never look as sharp as they should. 1/100th, f7.1 at 70mm i wouldnt think that i would have to worry about sharpness at all due to focus or shake. i certainly wasnt going to bracket focus in -35 ;)

This is a beautiful capture of some of the unusual colors nature can produce. I consider you very lucky, no matter how cold it was. I love how this photo makes the snow look like an aura around the branch.

But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

Now I understand the title better. Your effort in the cold paid off. The soft background compliments the branch perfectly. I will never complain about how cold it is when it's 40!

This goes straight to the winter slideshow on my HD. A full view is necessary and it is a unique wallpaper with the pastel hues. Very nice Carl. I'm enjoying it. Thanks. ;)

Did you ever get the film developed. I wouldn't mind seeing how some of those turned out. Oh and one more thing. KEEP POSTING PICTURES:P

This is one of my favorites, and I wanted you to know...it is a beautiful desktop...the pink is pleasant, the branch takes the stage, and the frosty coat is icing on the cake! Thanks for the diligence...Bill.
