Beautiful :) I love the way the snow looks, reminds me of melted marshmellows lol. Only suggestion would be to tilt the camera slightly higher (just being balanced ;)
Thick and untouched. The purity and the way it flows between trees almost makes it look like a model instead of a real place. You could have easily over exposed. Good job here.
i couldnt show sky, the reason the light was so nice, is that there was a really low cloud that enough light came through to make depth and contour, yet didnt leave any really dark shadows, any sky i'd have shown would have just been light grey, so not very interesting, there was also quite a bit of hill yet between the snow and the sky, so if i'd have put sky in, the snow would just about have been lost in the bottom. thanks for all the comments
Another 'Currier and Ives' Christmas card Carl. All that is missing is the Cardinal bird! The snow is absolutely amazing. The mounds of snow are so pure. I can hear the silence. Well done. Thank you :))
wow! Really nice (and a top download, I see :-P). It's in the 70s here today, so I'm putting this on my desktop to remind me of what other folks (i.e. my friend in Boston) to the north are getting. Hee hee :)
Now that I look at it in full screen, I do see what the others were saying. The photograph looks a bit unfinished having only part of the trees in the frame, but I can totally understand the difficulty of getting a good angle.
Super shot - the snow looks so untouched and inviting. :) The shapes are great! I like the angle and am not bothered by the tree's being cut off. Do blueberries actually grow on this trail?
mdmbutterfly, i dont actually know if blueberries grow on this trail, obviously not in the winter, but i've been biking on nearby trails, and there is the occasional wild blueberry plant, so its a good guess there are blueberries here in the summer
This is just fantastic!..how can snow look this beautiful? Its just perfect. Where were YOU to take this great shot? In a tree? where? You did it jsut right....bravo!!!
this is actually just off the side of a cross country ski trail, i've just posted a picture of a very similar area (dont think its exactly the same, but along the same stretch) where you can see the trail.
I agree on all the positive comments ahead of me Carl. The shapes and thick pillowed looks of the snow are attention getting. No one has asked so I guess I will. Do you know about how deep these puffs of snow were? By the treetrunks, I'm guessing not too deep but your shot has well given the appearance that they are.
what's made the puffs is the stream that meanders though the valley, for most of the winter. it melts the snow that lands on it, leaving the 'valleys'. by now i think the stream wasnt flowing at all anymore. the puffs are a good 3 feet deep in the high spots, so you could easily do a belly flop into one ;)
But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile.
Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.
Thank you for taking the time to notice this on your trip. Snow seems to elicit a childlike response from us, especially when you find billowy snow like this! Keep it up.
