i think this is a somewhat unusual sunset composition, the sun right on the edge of the frame, but i really like how the water turned out with this shutter speed. unfortunately i was too lazy to use a tripod so even with the 10mm lens, a 1/4 second shot handheld will produce some softness.

Looks pretty sharp to me for a 1/4 of a second. Darn young kids with steady hands. Just wait till your my age, I get camera shake at 1/125 a second. hehe
This river must be near your house. When I was your age back in Texas I would go back to the same Bayou at least once a week to shoot. It's good practice in that it each time you go back you have to look for something different to shoot or a different way of shooting it.
