Wait for more in this series. Some are majestic, others appear that God has resorted to Crayon's cosmic equivalent. Others may even be trying to teach you a lesson. ISO 200 f/5.6 5s. the grass was lit by a streetlight, and possibly other headlights behind me.

Hello Carl...so this is lightening I assume? Its a strange shape tho. Or is it what we used to call "weather lightening"...which doesnt give the normal strike but instead is a bit softer. We used to see it a lot when I lived in North Dakota for a while. This is just an AWESOME photo..and indeed..God's canvas. How very beautiful. I am so looking forward to more of these....hurry ok? lol.........verena

I suppose you used long exposure time? The lightning complex line is great. It is surprising how you managed to capture the grass weeds, they are well focused and exposed. I wonder about the camera settings...

This is truly amazing and you captured direct center the focal point or cloud in which the lightning originated...this is beautiful

Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of Yahweh, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; 6 nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you.....

This is breath taking. Out here in the desert we see a lot of this, especially during our monsoons.

Awesome picture!

I really like the rust color of the grass against the deep purple of the sky and the lightning is eerie. Nice capture.
